One of these notices was reworded after it was announced. The authority changed the remedy on 26V424. The register shows only the current wording. This site keeps both, with the date each was read and a fingerprint of the text, so the change is provable.
NHTSA has recorded 30 distinct safety campaigns against the Honda PILOT since 2016. The Dutch register holds 10, for the 19 of them registered on Dutch roads.
2016–2025
all years on file
the Dutch road
American regulators have recorded 20 more distinct campaigns against the Honda PILOT than the Dutch register holds.
What those campaigns were about
NHTSA files every campaign against the system at fault. For the Honda PILOT, the American record breaks down like this: counted once per campaign, not once per model year.
| Fuel system, gasoline | 5 |
|---|---|
| Seats | 3 |
| Back over prevention | 3 |
| Electrical system | 2 |
| Seat belts | 2 |
| Structure | 2 |
| Engine and engine cooling | 2 |
| Tires | 2 |
What this does not mean. A larger count on one side is not proof that the other country's owners were abandoned. Model variants differ between markets, an American campaign can cover an engine or body never sold in Europe, and a privately imported car has no national importer obliged to write to its owner, which is itself worth knowing. We publish the difference as a measured fact and an open question, never as an accusation.

US figures are distinct NHTSA campaign numbers for vehicle recalls, read from NHTSA's published bulk file, last read 10 September 2026. Dutch figures are campaigns recorded by the Netherlands vehicle register; the fleet count is the Netherlands vehicle register's vehicle register. One campaign counts once however many model years it covers.
What the PILOT record is mostly about
Recalls are not interchangeable, and this model’s are not spread evenly. The single largest group is fuel system, gasoline, with 5 of the 30 American campaigns filed against it, followed by seats (3) and back over prevention (3). The full breakdown is in the table above, counted once per campaign rather than once per model year: a single campaign covering six years of PILOT production counts once here, which is not how most recall counts are quoted.
Only 19 Honda PILOTs are on the Dutch register. Most arrived as private imports, which matters: an imported car has no national importer obliged to write to its owner when a campaign is issued.
Check a Honda PILOT
A recall lookup tells you what is open on your car today. It does not tell you whether the notice was edited after it was published: manufacturers revise them, and the new version replaces the old one on the public record. We keep the originals, hashed and dated. Check a Honda PILOT against ours, or look your own car up by country.
How these two registers are compared, why most models cannot be compared at all, and which forty can: the method is here. Figures rebuild themselves from NHTSA’s bulk file and the Netherlands national vehicle register’s open data; freshness is public on the status page.
