Concern

Brake lamp switch may malfunction

Defect, as DVSA words it

The brake lamp switch may malfunction which can be identified by a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination an audible chime and the brake lights will be illuminated. A malfunctioning brake switch could allow the vehicle to be shifted out of PARK without the brake pedal being depressed and could cause the rear brake lamps to be continuously illuminated. Being able to shift a vehicle out of PARK when the brake pedal is not depressed (and the ignition is in the RUN mode) and/or having the rear brake lamps continuously illuminated could cause a vehicle to crash without prior warning.

Remedy, as DVSA words it

Replace the brake lamp switch.

What changed since we first read it

Nothing yet. The wording has been the same on every read since 4 September 2026. The file is read again every day; if DVSA rewrites the defect, remedy or concern, the old and new text will appear here with both dates.

The same recall in other registers

No match found in the American, Canadian or European registers by manufacturer reference, because the reference DVSA lists is too short to match safely. A recall can exist abroad under a different reference; this site only claims a match when the reference agrees.
