Concern

Shock absorber may fail

Defect, as DVSA words it

It is possible there is a leak of hydraulic fluid at the plug of the semi-active shock absorber. A loss of hydraulic fluid can lead to a negative affect of the performance of the shock absorber handling of the machine and damage to the interior of the shock absorber.

Remedy, as DVSA words it

Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and check for fluid leakage from the plug of the semi-active shock absorber. If there is visible leakage the shock absorber will be changed for a new unit and mounted with the original preload adjuster. If there is no leakage the original shock absorber can remain in please. In all cases check the software and update as necessary.

What changed since we first read it

Nothing yet. The wording has been the same on every read since 4 September 2026. The file is read again every day; if DVSA rewrites the defect, remedy or concern, the old and new text will appear here with both dates.

The same recall in other registers

No match found in the American, Canadian or European registers by manufacturer reference. A recall can exist abroad under a different reference; this site only claims a match when the reference agrees.

KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE in the other registers

This site holds seven national and European registers. KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE is named on 2 American notices, 3 Canadian, 1 European, 3 Japanese and 1 Israeli. Those are separate campaigns, filed with separate authorities on their own schedules.

Nothing here says any of these is this notice in another country. A model recalled in one country is often recalled in another, in different words and at a different time, and the authorities do not cross-reference each other. Reading them together is the reason this site holds more than one register.

KTM elsewhere in this register

KTM is named on 54 notices in the copy of the DVSA’s register held here, of which these are the nearest to this one in time.

Reading this against the source

This page is what the DVSA published in its file of vehicle recalls, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /uk-recalls, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.

This notice names one vehicle among several registers that have written about it. Every notice this site holds for the KTM 1290 Super Adventure, in all seven, is kept on that vehicle's own page, with the newest in each.
