REGULAR CAB TWO WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT TRUCKS WITH A 6,200 OR 6,900 POUND GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING (G.V.W.R.). THESE VEHICLES WERE INADVERTENTLY PRODUCED WITH 1980 MODEL RATHER THAN 1979 MODEL FRONT DISC BRAKE HUB AND ROTOR ASSEMBLIES. THIS CONDITION MAY ALLOW THE INNER BRAKE LINING/SHOE TO MOVE TO A POSITION WHERE IT IS NO LONGER RETAINED IN THE SHOE SLOT WHEN THE INNER BRAKE LININGS BECOME WORN. THE INNER BRAKE SHOE COULD THEN WEDGE BETWEEN THE ROTOR AND SPINDLE POSSIBLE CAUSING A SUDDEN LOCK-UP OF ONE FRONT WHEEL. THIS CONDITIO COULD ALSO RESULT IN A LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID FROM THE FRONT SYSTEM.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1979145.
