1977 - 78 LOADSTAR 1600/1700/1800 TRUCKS AND SCHOOL BUSES. PUSHROD CONNECTING BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY TO THE MASTER CYLINDER MAY HAVE BEEN INCORRECTLY MOUNTED TO THE LOWER OF TWO HOLES IN THE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY. INCORRECT MOUNTING CAN CAUSE SIDELOAD FORCES TO BE APPLIED TO THE PUSHROD, WHICH ARE SUFFICIENT TO CAUSE PUSHROD FRACTURE AND EVENTUAL SEPARATION THUS PREVENTING MASTER CYLINDER ACTUATION AND CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKING CAPABILITY. THIS COULD CAUSE VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1981109.
