THE STEERING GEAR RELIEF VALVE SETTING AND POWER PUMP PRESSURE USED WHEN THESE VEHICLES WERE MANUFACTURED COULD RESULT IN FORCES WHICH COULD YIELD OR CRACK THE STEERING ARM. IN ADDITION, SOME OF THE STEERING ARMS USED DURING THIS PERIOD MAY NOT HAVE RECEIVED PROPER HEAT TREATMENT. ONE, OR A COMBINATION OF THESE FACTORS COULD CAUSE A BROKEN STEERING ARM AND LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL.
Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1982029.
