On certain motorcycles, a ground fault may occur in the stoplight switch located in the throttle twist grip housing causing a short circuit and allowing electrical current to flow through the throttle cable. This could allow the cable's inner plastic sliding tube to overheat and soften or melt. This could impair operation of the throttle cable and require increased effort to open and close the throttle with the twist grip.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1985027.
