THE BATTERY CABLE LEADING TO THE STARTER SOLENOID AND THE LEAD FROM THE SOLENOID TO THE STARTER MOTOR MAY BE IMPROPERLY ROUTED ABOVE THE COIL BRACKET. IN THIS POSITION THE INSULATION OF THE LEADS COULD CUT THROUGH CAUSING A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THIS COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING AND THE LIGHTS TO GO OUT WHICH COULD POSSIBLY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1985034.
