THE STEERING ARM OF VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 5000 THROUGH 8000 LB. CAPACITY FRONT AXLES AND POWER STEERING MAY CRACK AS THE RESULT OF REPEATED FULL LOCK TURNS. DUE TO THE LACK OF END-OF-TRAVEL RELIEF FEATURES, THE STEERING GEAR CONTINUES TO POWER THE STEERING LINKAGE AFTER IT IS RESTRAINED BY THE AXLE STOP BOLT, RESULTING IN BENDING OF THE STEERING ARM AND EVENTUAL CRACK INITIATION. IF THESE CRACKS PROPOGATE TO COMPLETE FRACTURE OF THE ARM, LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL WOULD RESULT. THIS COULD CAUSE A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. rnS-SERIES 1600-2100 TRUCKS AND BUSES.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1986009.
