On certain Audi 5000 turbo and 5000 Quattro, repeated `topping off' of the fuel tank after the gas station pump has stopped the fuel supply during refuelling, reduces the expansion space within the fuel tank. Consequent pressure conditions within the evaporative emission control system could result in fuel vapours being released into the engine compartment. Heat from the turbo exhaust system could ignite the vapours and cause an engine compartment fire with a risk of injury to the vehicle occupants. Correction: Vehicles will be fitted with a new vent valve and a new type charcoal filter vent hose. In addition, Quattro models will receive a redesigned fuel filler neck.
