THE HINGE PIN CONNECTING THE BRAKE TREADLE TO THE FLOOR MOUNTING PLATE IS HELD IN PLACE BY A COTTER PIN. THAT COTTER PIN MAY HAVE BEEN OMITTED DURING VEHICLE ASSEMBLY AND AS A RESULT THE HINGE PIN COULD WORK ITSELF OUT OF THE HINGE AND CAUSE THE BRAKE TREADLE TO SEPARATE FROM THE FLOOR MOUNTING. IF THIS SHOULD HAPPEN, THE DRIVER WOULD BE UNABLE TO APPLY THE BRAKES WITH THE FOOT VALVE. rnCORRECTION: VEHICLES WILL BE INSPECTED AND COTTER PINS WILL BE INSTALLED AT THE BRAKE TREADLE HINGE PIN WHERE REQUIRED.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1989025.
