Saab 9000 in the other registers

This site holds seven national and European registers. Saab 9000 is named on 3 British notices and 2 Japanese. Those are separate campaigns, filed with separate authorities on their own schedules.

Nothing here says any of these is this notice in another country. A model recalled in one country is often recalled in another, in different words and at a different time, and the authorities do not cross-reference each other. Reading them together is the reason this site holds more than one register.

NOTE: VEHICLES WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
RESIDUE ON THE CIRCUIT CARD MAY CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE BACK-UP LAMP CIRCUIT AND EVENTUAL OVERHEATING OF THE COMBINATION SAFETY/BACK-UP LAMP SWITCH ASSEMBLY. IF THIS SHOULD OCCUR, SMOKE OR POSSIBLY A FIRE MIGHT DEVELOP FROM THE CENTER CONSOLE AREA IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.
CORRECTION: AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT, INCLUDING A RELAY, WILL BE ADDED TO THE BACK-UP LAMP CIRCUIT. THIS WILL REDUCE THE MAXIMUM ELECTRIC CURRENT THAT CAN FLOW THROUGH THE COMBINATION SWITCH IN THE GEAR SELECTOR.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1990042.

Reading this against the source

This page is what Transport Canada published in the Vehicle Recalls Database, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /canada, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.

What the words on this notice mean — the system it is filed under, and what the filing type says about who found the fault.

This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Canadian recalls on a Saab: 70 in the register, and 196 Canadian vehicle recalls filed in 1990.
