A WELD IN THE CROSS LINK COULD FAIL ALLOWING A STRESS CRACK TO OCCUR AND, OVER TIME, RADIATE AROUND THE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE BAR. THIS WOULD EVENTUALLY ALLOW THE SEPARATION OF THE END ASSEMBLY FROM THE BAR. THIS WOULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL TO THE RIGHT SIDE FRONT WHEEL. CORRECTION: DEFECTIVE PARTS WILL BE REPLACED WITH REDESIGNED COMPONENTS.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1996089.
