On certain vehicles, the electrical ground cable that connects the engine block with the starter may be routed in a way that could cause chafing against the starter's positive battery cable. If chafing occurs, an electrical short may result and may cause a vehicle fire, possibly resulting in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace and reroute the ground cable.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2005396.
