On certain trucks, the crossmember was not formed correctly during manufacturing process. Using results from a stress test, it was estimated that the life expectancy of the suspect crossmember could be less than the design intent. In some applications the crossmember supports the center bearing of the propeller shaft. If this condition were to occur, the structural integrity of the crossmember could be compromised and could result in a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the crossmember.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2006337.
