On certain trucks, the front axle outer wheel bearings may not have been properly heat treated during the manufacturing process. This could cause a bearing to fail, allowing the wheel assembly to separate. A wheel separating from the vehicle could cause a loss of control and a crash. In addition, the errant wheel assembly could strike a vehicle, property, or a bystander. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the outer wheel bearings.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2011279.
