On some street sweepers built on UD Truck chassis, the air brake system may not comply with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121- Air Brake Systems. During the conversion into a street sweeper, the primary and secondary circuits may have been tied together and may no longer be isolated. This would cause a loss of both the front and rear service brakes in the event of an air leak in either service brake circuit, which could result in a reduction of braking performance, increased stopping distances, loss of system pressure and/or emergency brake application. Correction: Elgin authorized repair facilities will inspect the air lines and re-route as necessary.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2012256.

Reading this against the source
This page is what Transport Canada published in the Vehicle Recalls Database, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /canada, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.
What the words on this notice mean — the system it is filed under, and what the filing type says about who found the fault.
This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Canadian recalls on a Elgin Sweeper: 11 in the register, and 444 Canadian vehicle recalls filed in 2012.
