On certain vehicles, the rear brake caliper bolts may have been insufficiently tightened during vehicle assembly. Loose bolts could allow a caliper to detach from its mount, potentially contacting the rotating road wheel. This could result in partial loss of brake function, which could increase stopping distance. This could also cause a sudden loss of tire air pressure, which could cause the driver to lose vehicle control. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will tighten the rear brake caliper mounting bolts to the specified torque.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2012410.
