On certain fire trucks, the ball joints of the Independent Front Suspension (IFS) module may not have been assembled properly during the manufacturing process causing them to loosen over time. Loose ball joints could separate from their mating component which could result in a partial loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the central steering system ball joints and tighten if necessary.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2017412.
