On certain side-by-side UTVs, the splash panels located behind the driver and passenger seats could melt, potentially resulting in a fire. This could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the plastic splash panels behind both the operator and passenger seat with revised ones with added heat reflective material, as well as replace the current aluminium exhaust head pipe shield with a new stainless steel head pipe shield equipped with a better insulator material. Additionally, dealers will ensure the spark plug caps are properly and fully inserted into the engine. Note: In the interim, owners are advised to stop riding their UTV until the defect has been repaired.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2017510.
