Certain buses may fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 217 u2013 Bus Window Retention, Release and Emergency Exits. The release handle for the emergency windows may be difficult to pull, which in the event of a crash or vehicle fire, could hamper passengers' efforts to quickly exit the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will apply dry lubricant to the latch assembly and cycle the handle to work the lubricant in.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2018263.
