On certain vehicles, one or more of the rear axle bearing bolts may not have been properly tightened during assembly. This could cause the bolt(s) to become loose and eventually detach, which could damage the rear brakes or could cause the rear wheel(s) to detach. This may result in a reduction in brake performance and a loss of vehicle stability, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the rear axle hub bearing bolts. If a bolt is found to be loose or detached, the dealer will replace the rear axle hub bearing assembly and rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2018559.
