Transport Canada carries this recall as 2019005, dated 8 January 2019. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 16V384, dated 31 May 2016. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, 19S01.

The two registers are 952 days apart: the American entry is dated first, the Canadian one second.
These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.
This campaign code also appears in a third register. The European alerts covers the European Union side.
Read the American notice 16V384, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

Issue: rnOn certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. rn rnSafety Risk: rnIf the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnOwners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the passenger-front airbag inflator replaced. rnNote: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.rnAdditional note: This recall supersedes recalls 2016-347 (Ford Safety Improvement Program 16S26), 2017-024 (Ford Recall 17S01) and 2018-035 (Ford Recall 18S01).
