Issue: rnThe interior covers on the A-, B-, and C-pillars may not have been installed correctly. In a crash requiring the activation of the side curtain airbags, the pillar covers could detach. This could cause the curtain airbags not to open correctly. In addition, the pillar covers could be projected toward people in the vehicle. rn rnSafety Risk: rnIn a crash where the side curtain airbags deploy, this could increase the risk of injury. rn rnCorrective Actions: rnMercedes-Benz will notify the owner by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the interior covers on the A-, B-, and C-pillars. The covers will be reinstalled correctly, if necessary.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2019399.
