Transport Canada carries this recall as 2020071, dated 21 February 2020. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 20V097, dated 21 February 2020. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, 20C03.

Both registers carry the same date for this defect.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 20V097, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

Issue: rnOn certain trucks, there may be a problem with the software that controls the daytime running lights (DRLs). When the DRLs are on and the master lighting switch is rotated from the u201cAutolampu201d position to the u201cheadlamp onu201d position, the DRLs do not lower to parking light brightness. Canadian regulations require that the DRLs turn off when the headlights are turned on. rnNote: This only affects trucks equipped with LED headlights and the Autolamp feature (automatic headlights). rnrnSafety Risk: rnLights that are too bright could cause glare for oncoming drivers.rnrnCorrective Actions: rnFord will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to update the body control module (BCM) software.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2020071.
