Issue: rnOn certain vehicles equipped with a Cummins B6.7 diesel engine, the electric fuel heater could overheat and melt. rnNote: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall 2019-148. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.rnrnSafety Risk: rnA fuel heater that overheats could create the risk of a fire. This could also cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. rn rnCorrective Actions: rnCummins will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a Cummins authorized service center to disable the fuel heater. The fuel heater will be replaced by installing a plug in its place. Additionally, the fuse supplying electrical power to the fuel heater will be removed and a cover will also be installed over the wire harness connector.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2020163.
