Issue: rnOn certain motorcycles, a software problem in the electronic control unit (ECU) may cause damage to the starter motor or starter relay. If this happens, the rider may not be able to start the engine. rn rnSafety Risk: rnBeing unable to start the engine under certain circumstances, such as after an engine stall at a traffic light, could increase the risk of a crash. rn rnCorrective Actions: rnNone of the affected vehicles have been sold to retail customers. BMW will instruct dealers to update the ECU software and replace the battery, if necessary.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2021049.
