Issue: rnCertain vehicles were built with the wrong center console cover. As a result, there is a button for the shift lock release instead of a cover over it. If the button is pushed, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK without a key in the ignition and without pressing the brake pedal. If this happens, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could roll away. Canadian regulations require the shift lock release to be covered. rnrnSafety Risk: rnA parked vehicle that moves unexpectedly could increase the risk of an injury or a crash. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnHyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the shift lock release button with a cover.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2021534.
