Issue: rnOn certain vehicles, the air bag control unit may not work properly due to a software error. As a result, the airbag warning light and warning messages may not turn on when there is a problem with the airbag system or the pedestrian protection system. rnNote: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall 2022-183. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. rnrnSafety Risk: rnAn airbag system that does not work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnBMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the airbag control unit software. To reduce the safety risk, BMW recommends that you should not transport any passengers until the recall repairs have been completed.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2022364.
