What the ministry says is wrong

③補助電動冷却水ポンプの冷却水ホースとアルミ製冷却水パイプの間隔が狭いため干渉し ているものがある。そのため、原動機の振動により冷却水ホースが摩耗し破損して冷却水 が漏れ、最悪の場合、原動機がオーバーヒートするおそれがある。

What is to be done about it

③全車両、冷却水ホースとアルミ製冷却水パイプの間隔を点検し、間隔が不適切なものは 補助電動冷却水ポンプのホルダーの加工をおこない、冷却水パイプと冷却水ホースの間隔 を確保する。

The two passages above are quoted in Japanese because that is the language the ministry published them in. This site keeps the wording a register had when it was read, and does not translate a safety notice.

Source: Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism website (出典:国土交通省ウェブサイト), used under the Public Data License 1.0. This site gathered the record, grouped it by notification number and set it in English around the ministry's own words; the notice itself is unaltered. CarsMultiverse is not the ministry and not a safety authority. To act on this notice, use the ministry's own document.

The Japanese register on this site

フォルクスワーゲン elsewhere in this register

フォルクスワーゲン is named on 180 notices in the copy of MLIT’s register held here, of which these are the nearest to this one in time.

The same part: 冷却装置

171 notices in this register name 冷却装置. A defect that keeps returning under one heading is worth reading as a group rather than one notice at a time.

Reading this against the source

This page is what MLIT published in the recall notices it publishes, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /japan, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.

This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Japanese recalls on a Volkswagen: 180 in the register, and 511 Japanese vehicle recall notifications filed in 2004.
