Concern

SRL260623 – KUGESPU – Replace tie rod

Defect, as DVSA words it

Through a self-disclosure by supplier ZF Friedrichshafen AG Daimler Truck AG was informed that there may have been a manufacturing deviation in Atego 967 Actros 963 Arocs 964 and eActros 983 model vehicles on the ball joints that are installed in steering components (e.g. drag links steering links tie rods). It cannot be ruled out that individual components did not fully undergo the prescribed hardening process and have therefore gotten into vehicles with insufficient material hardness. This may result in increased wear and in later phases reduced fatigue strength to the point of a possible fatigue fracture which would probably occur at low speeds with high steering forces (e.g. when maneuvering). In the event of such a fracture vehicle can no longer be steered and there would be a risk of accident.

Remedy, as DVSA words it

As part of our planned recall campaign and as a precautionary measure we want to check whether insufficiently hardened components were installed in the potentially affected vehicles. Insufficiently hardened components will be replaced as part of the check.

What changed since we first read it

Nothing yet. The wording has been the same on every read since 4 September 2026. The file is read again every day; if DVSA rewrites the defect, remedy or concern, the old and new text will appear here with both dates.
