THE STEERING COLUMN COUPLING TO STEERING GEAR INPUT SHAFT CLAMP WAS IMPROPERLY HEAT TREATED AND MAY DEFORM OR FRACTURE. THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE WEAR AND PROGRESSIVE LOOSENESS WHICH COULD PROGRESS UNTIL THE SHAFT SERRATIONS AND/OR COUPLING INTERNAL SPLINE TEETH BECOME STRIPPED. Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1979013.
