VEHICLES EQUIPPED FOR POLICE SERVICE. SOME VEHICLES WERE PRODUCED WITH FRAMES THAT MAY HAVE INADEQUATELY WELDED NO. 2 CROSSMEMBER ASSEMBLIES. CRACKS COULD INITIATE AT MISSING WELDS AND PROPOGATE TO ONE OF THE WELDED-ON FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ATTACHING GUSSETS. THE CRACKING MAY EXTEND AROUND THE GUSSET ALLOWING THE GUSSET AND THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM TO DISENGAGE FROM THE FRAME. THIS CONDITION WOULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1979084.
