1977-83 S SERIES 1700, 1800, 1900, 2100, AND 2500 TRUCKS AND BUSES. IN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 1900 LB. FRONT AXLES THE OUTPUT SHAFT OF THE SAGINAW 553 MANUAL STEERING GEAR MAY DEVELOP CRACKS INBOARD OF THE PITMAN ARM MOUNTING. CONTINUED OPERATION MAY CAUSE SHAFT FAILURE RESULTING IN SEPARATION OF THE PITMAN ARM FROM THE STEERING GEAR. THIS CAN CAUSE VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
