VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 6.6L AND 7.8L ENGINES. DIESEL ENGINE GOVERNOR ASSEMBLIES MAY HAVE LEVER RETAINING RINGS INSTALLED IN A REVERSED POSITION. AS A RESULT, ONE OR MORE OF THREE RETAINING PRONGS MAY NOT BE ENGAGED IN THE GOVERNOR LEVER PIVOT SHAFTS.AN UNENGAGED RETAINING RING COULD POTENTIALLY DETACH, CAUSING SEPARATION OF THE ACCELERATOR LINKAGE AND RETURN SPRINGS. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR, THE TIME FOR THE ENGINE TO RETURN TO IDLE FROM AN OPEN POSITION WOULD BE SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASED. THIS COULD ADVERSELY AFFECT VEHICLE CONTROL. CORRECTION: REPLACE GOVERNOR LEVER ASSEMBLY.
Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1987045.

Reading this against the source
This page is what Transport Canada published in the Vehicle Recalls Database, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /canada, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.
What the words on this notice mean — the system it is filed under, and what the filing type says about who found the fault.
This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Canadian recalls on a Ford: 1,346 in the register, and 142 Canadian vehicle recalls filed in 1987.
