VEHICLES WITH SHEPPARD STEERING GEAR WERE MANUFACTURED WITH AN INCORRECT PITMAN ARM TO DRAG LINK ANGLE DUE TO A MISPLACED PITMAN ARM TIMING MARK. IN A FULL RIGHT HAND TURN WITH THE LEFT HAND WHEEL UNSUPPORTED, THE STEERING LINKAGE COULD GO INTO A TOGGLE CONDITION RESULTING IN A SLOW WHEEL RETURN. THIS COULD IMPAIR STEERING CONTROL AND POSSIBLY LEAD TO A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
MISMARKED PITMAN ARMS WILL BE REPLACED.
NOTE: NO VEHICLES LOCATED IN CANADA. 24-06-88.
