IF A VEHICLE IS SUBJECTED TO SIGNIFICANT ROADWAY IRREGULARITIES DURING HARD BRAKING, VIBRATION MAY OVERLOAD THE COMPRESSION BAR SYSTEM WHICH MIGHT CAUSE BREAKAGE OF THE FRONT WHEEL COMPONENTS. THIS WOULD CAUSE LOSS OF FRONT BRAKE STOPPING ABILITY, INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES AND POSSIBLE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL WHILE BRAKING. CORRECTION: A HIGHER STRENGTH COMPRESSION BAR SYSTEM KIT WILL BE INSTALLED ON EACH AFFECTED VEHICLE.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1989088.
