On certain vehicles, the joint between the lower portion of the steering column and the upper end of the intermediate steering shaft may have a missing or loose pinch bolt. Although less likely, this condition could also occur at the lower end of the intermediate steering shaft at the steering gear connection. If a pinch bolt is missing or vibrates loose, the intermediate shaft could separate from the steering column or steering gear, and/or allow relative rotation (slip) between the joined shafts. This would cause a loss of steering control, which could result in a vehicle collision. Correction: The dealer will inspect both ends of the intermediate steering shaft to ensure the pinch bolt is installed and/or properly torqued. If the bolt and nut are missing, new ones will be installed.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2002170.

Reading this against the source
This page is what Transport Canada published in the Vehicle Recalls Database, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /canada, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.
What the words on this notice mean — the system it is filed under, and what the filing type says about who found the fault.
This notice names one vehicle among several registers that have written about it. Every notice this site holds for the International 9900, in all seven, is kept on that vehicle's own page, with the newest in each.
This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Canadian recalls on an International: 314 in the register, and 246 Canadian vehicle recalls filed in 2002.
