On certain vehicles, the parking brake cable lock nut may have been improperly tightened during vehicle assembly and could loosen over time, allowing the parking brake lever stroke length to increase gradually. If left unchecked, the parking brake stroke could increase until the parking brake no longer fully applies. This could allow the vehicle to roll away causing a risk or property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect the lock nut and tighten if necessary.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2012374.
