Transport Canada carries this recall as 2022144, dated 28 March 2022. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 22V188, dated 25 March 2022. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, 22S15.

The two registers are 3 days apart: the American entry is dated first, the Canadian one second.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 22V188, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

Issue: rnOn certain trucks, the powertrain control module (PCM) may have been programmed incorrectly. As a result, a false diagnostic trouble code (DTC) could cause the transmission to shift into neutral while driving, causing a sudden loss of power to the wheels. If the vehicle speed drops below 3 km/h after this happens, the transmission can shift to park automatically. rnNote: This recall only affects trucks equipped with a 2.7 L, 3.5 L, or 5.0 L engine and without auto start-stop technology. rnrnSafety Risk: rnA loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnFord will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealership to update the powertrain control module (PCM) software.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2022144.
