Issue: rnOn certain vehicles, the brake lamps may flash during certain braking events when the antilock braking system (ABS) is activated. Canadian regulations require the brake lamps to stay on constantly while braking. rnrnSafety Risk: rnBrake lamps that don't work properly could create confusion and cause others not to recognize when a vehicle is braking. This could increase the risk of a crash. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnGeneral Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the body control module software.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2024678.
