What the ministry says is wrong

パワーステアリングシリンダアンカー部の強度が不足しているため、最大舵角での操作を繰り返すと、当該部に亀裂が入ることがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、最悪の場合、当該アンカーが破損し、操舵不能に至るおそれがある。

What is to be done about it

①全車両、パワーステアリングシリンダアンカーの溶接部の亀裂発生の有無、溶接脚長の大きさ、および補強板の有無を点検する。亀裂の発生しているものは修復し、溶接脚長の小さいものは追加溶接を行う。また、補強板の取り付けられていない車両には、補強板を追加溶接する。 ②全車両、ステアリングストッパを追加溶接する。

The two passages above are quoted in Japanese because that is the language the ministry published them in. This site keeps the wording a register had when it was read, and does not translate a safety notice.

This site gathered the record, grouped it by notification number and set it in English around the ministry's own words; the notice itself is unaltered. CarsMultiverse is not the ministry and not a safety authority. To act on this notice, use the ministry's own document.

サカイ elsewhere in this register

サカイ is named on 25 notices in the copy of MLIT’s register held here, of which these are the nearest to this one in time.

The same part: かじ取リンク機構

149 notices in this register name かじ取リンク機構. A defect that keeps returning under one heading is worth reading as a group rather than one notice at a time.

Reading this against the source

This page is what MLIT published in the recall notices it publishes, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /japan, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.

This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Japanese recalls on a Sakai: 25 in the register, and 511 Japanese vehicle recall notifications filed in 2004.
