What the ministry says is wrong

配光可変型前照灯において、制御プログラムの製造指示が不適切なため、左右通行帯の設定を一度変更すると右側通行用の配光設定に固定されてしまう。そのため、協定規則第４８号に適合しなくなる。

What is to be done about it

全車両、左右のヘッドライトコントロールユニットの制御プログラムを正規のプログラムに書き換える。

The two passages above are quoted in Japanese because that is the language the ministry published them in. This site keeps the wording a register had when it was read, and does not translate a safety notice.

Source: Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism website （出典：国土交通省ウェブサイト）, used under the Public Data License 1.0. This site gathered the record, grouped it by notification number and set it in English around the ministry's own words; the notice itself is unaltered. CarsMultiverse is not the ministry and not a safety authority. To act on this notice, use the ministry's own document.

The Japanese register on this site

メルセデス・ベンツ elsewhere in this register

メルセデス・ベンツ is named on 444 notices in the copy of MLIT’s register held here, of which these are the nearest to this one in time.

The same part: 前照灯

161 notices in this register name 前照灯. A defect that keeps returning under one heading is worth reading as a group rather than one notice at a time.

Reading this against the source

This page is what MLIT published in the recall notices it publishes, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /japan, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.

This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Japanese recalls on a Mercedes-Benz: 450 in the register, and 371 Japanese vehicle recall notifications filed in 2024.

A small badge that links here and names the register's reference. It costs one line of HTML and needs no key.

The badge is free to use. It links to this page and nowhere else, and it never shows advertising.

No register publishes what happens after the letter. Owners do: tell us, in two taps.
