Issue: rnOn certain motorcycles, a programming issue in the engine control unit could lead to transmission damage. Specifically, this can happen in a situation where the transmission jumps out of gear, and the engine speed increases before a gear is re-engaged. If this happens, the gear could be damaged when it is engaged. This could result in an inability to shift gears or cause a sudden lock up of the rear wheel. rn rnSafety Risk: rnA rear wheel that locks suddenly or an inability to shift gears could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. rn rnCorrective Actions: rnKawasaki will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to update the engine control unit software.
