Issue: rnOn certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 20S21 (Transport Canada recall no. 2020-203) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. rnrnOn certain vehicles, there is a problem with the warnings to tell a driver that the transmission is not in Park. When the ignition is turned off, with the driver door closed, the message and chime to warn that the transmission is not in Park are only active for 3 seconds. Instead, the chime should sound for 10 seconds and the message should display for 30 minutes. As a result, a driver could exit the vehicle without realizing that the transmission is not in Park. If this happens, the vehicle could roll away. rn rnSafety Risk: rnUnintended vehicle movement could increase the risk of injury and/or a crash. rn rnCorrective Actions: rnFord will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to reprogram the instrument panel cluster.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2025707.
