What the ministry says is wrong

変速機において、被駆動側4速歯車に設けられたドッグクラッチのドッグの強度が不足しているため、変速時等の衝撃により当該ドッグが破損することがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、破片が歯車に噛み込み、最悪の場合、変速機がロックして走行できなくなるおそれがある。

What is to be done about it

全車両、被駆動側4速歯車を対策品と交換する。 なお、これらの対策品の準備に時間を要することから、当面の措置として、使用者に対し、DMにより使用停止を要請する。

The two passages above are quoted in Japanese because that is the language the ministry published them in. This site keeps the wording a register had when it was read, and does not translate a safety notice.

This site gathered the record, grouped it by notification number and set it in English around the ministry's own words; the notice itself is unaltered. CarsMultiverse is not the ministry and not a safety authority. To act on this notice, use the ministry's own document.

The Japanese register on this site

ヤマハ elsewhere in this register

ヤマハ is named on 181 notices in the copy of MLIT’s register held here, of which these are the nearest to this one in time.

The same part: 駆動力伝達部

136 notices in this register name 駆動力伝達部. A defect that keeps returning under one heading is worth reading as a group rather than one notice at a time.

Reading this against the source

This page is what MLIT published in the recall notices it publishes, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /japan, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.

This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Japanese recalls on a Yamaha: 186 in the register, and 361 Japanese vehicle recall notifications filed in 2006.
