What the ministry says is wrong

排出ガス循環装置(EGR)のパイプの強度が不足しているため、排気ガスの熱によるパイプの伸縮やエンジンの振動等により当該パイプに亀裂が発生することがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、亀裂が進行して騒音が増大するおそれがある。また、当該亀裂部からエンジンルーム内に吹き出た高温の排気ガスにより、エンジンルーム内に設置した火災報知器が吹鳴するおそれがある。

What is to be done about it

全車両、EGRパイプを対策品と交換する。

The two passages above are quoted in Japanese because that is the language the ministry published them in. This site keeps the wording a register had when it was read, and does not translate a safety notice.

Source: Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism website (出典:国土交通省ウェブサイト), used under the Public Data License 1.0. This site gathered the record, grouped it by notification number and set it in English around the ministry's own words; the notice itself is unaltered. CarsMultiverse is not the ministry and not a safety authority. To act on this notice, use the ministry's own document.

三菱 elsewhere in this register

三菱 is named on 887 notices in the copy of MLIT’s register held here, of which these are the nearest to this one in time.

The same part: 排ガス減少装置

99 notices in this register name 排ガス減少装置. A defect that keeps returning under one heading is worth reading as a group rather than one notice at a time.

Reading this against the source

This page is what MLIT published in the recall notices it publishes, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /japan, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.

This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Japanese recalls on a Mitsubishi: 1,288 in the register, and 427 Japanese vehicle recall notifications filed in 2005.
