What the ministry says is wrong

バッテリーケーブルにおいて、当該ケーブルの固定方法が不適切なこと。また、スターターモーターの端子部の絶縁カバーが適切に取り付けられていないものがある。そのため、走行中の振動により、バッテリーケーブルに巻いてある導通性のある耐熱シールド部がスターターモーターの端子部に接触し通電するものがある。さらに、エンジン等の金属部分に接触すると短絡して発煙し、最悪の場合、火災に至るおそれがある。

What is to be done about it

全車両、当該バッテリーケーブルを新品と交換し、固定ブラケット及びボルトを追加して当該ケーブルを適切な位置に固定し取り付ける。その際、取り外したバッテリーケーブルに短絡によるダメージがある場合は、スターターモーター及びオルタネーターの動作を確認し、正常に作動しないものは新品に交換する。
